Senior DesignSpeed Control of a GPS Tracked VehicleTeam Members:
Project Description:The idea of the project is to use a GPS locator to find the position of a vehicle and relate that location onto a map that would be stored in memory on the vehicle. The map contains information about the speed limit in the specific zone the vehicle happens to be in and relays information to logic. The logic controls the speed applied to a vehicle. We will be using a model car, in which the speed can be controlled by limiting the current, to demonstrate this project. As the car enters new zones, the speed would change. The map could be modified to simulate entering different cities with different streets and speed limits. The intention of this project is the eventual integration into speed control in cars for enhanced safety. Speed is an important issue in construction zones, school zones, and general speed limit zones. This would also be benificial to law enforcement officials by easing the burden of ensuring that the speed limit laws are obeyed. |
